Create a new audit, ready to receive samples.

Goal

Create a new audit in the active workspace, ready to receive samples and findings.

Preconditions

  • You are signed in.
  • You are a Member or higher in the workspace the audit should live in.
  • The workspace has not reached its active-audit limit, nor its audits-per-year limit.

Steps

The creation form has three steps: audit information, items to audit, then review.

  1. Click New Audit in the navigation.
  2. Enter a name (the service or product being audited) and optionally a description carrying the scope notes.
  3. Enter the website or target, and pick the workspace the audit belongs to.
  4. Pick the accessibility guideline and its version: RAWeb, RGAA, WCAG, RAAM for mobile applications, RAPDF for PDF documents, or one of the workspace's custom guidelines. See methodology / referentials overview.
  5. Pick the scope: full website, web artifact, PDF document, mobile app, or custom.
  6. Pick the coverage. Full checks every criterion. RGAA also offers a quick audit and a complementary audit, RAWeb offers the simplified control. A reduced coverage is a fast non-conformity check and cannot back a conformance statement.
  7. Pick the evaluation method: manual, automated, or hybrid. Most audits are hybrid, and this ends up in the accessibility statement.
  8. Optionally set the priority, the due date, the language of the evaluation, and the country and responsible body used later by the statement.
  9. Add the first items to audit, or skip and add samples later. See product / samples.
  10. Review and click to create.

Audits can be organised into folders from My Audits at any time afterwards.

Verify success

  • The audit appears in the workspace's audit list.
  • The chosen guideline and coverage are displayed in the audit header.
  • Its Samples, Versions, Reports and Statements tabs open.

Common pitfalls

  • Picking a reduced coverage for work that has to end in a statement. Coverage can be widened later but never narrowed, so when in doubt start full.
  • Forgetting to set scope notes. Scope is easy to forget upfront and expensive to reconstruct later.
  • Creating audits in a personal workspace when the work is collaborative. Personal workspaces have one member only.
